Danielle is a woman scorned by her true love and soul mate, Gabriel. She is hell bent on revenge and when The Great Evil seduces her with the power and abilities to accomplish her goal she falls willingly under its spell. Once Danielle is able to find her target she devises her scheme to seduce and then kill him. What she discovers soon after gaining access to him is that he is part of an elite team of fighters known as The Shield. These men are strong fighters with mates that possess their own power together and separately.
Gabriel has joined forces with four other men who are as close as brothers. They have sworn their allegiance to one another to fight and remove the Great Evil from their realm and keep earth safe for all mankind. They have battled and won on many fronts but the greatest enemy is about to converge upon them and test the strength of their bond to one another and the ability to fight this unknown enemy.
When Danielle and Gabriel are thrown together both are leery of the other but while Danielle knows and remembers what Gabriel has done to betray her. Gabriel has no memory of the past but only feels some familiarity toward her. The journey these two take is dangerous and the story lends itself to a number of unexpected surprises and pleasant discoveries for both of them.
With all series books it does help to read those that came in front of the latest one but Ms. Grant does an exquisite job of bringing the reader up-to-date with the past relationships from previous novels in this novel that it really is not needed. In A Warrior’s Heart the characters are so flawed and filled with self doubt you want them to succeed on every level and with the discoveries of prior lives and present issues you feel their love develop and grow as each chapter is completed. A Warrior’s Heart was a pleasant and enjoyable read; I look forward to reading more in the future from Donna Grant.
