Sara Mackenzie began writing as soon as she could hold a pen, and always knew she wanted to be a published author. After winning a local short story competition and then having several of her stories accepted for an Australian magazine. Working at a series of mind-numbing jobs, she continued to write in her spare time and was lucky enough to have one of her manuscripts accepted by Harlequin Mills and Boon in London. Five books later, she moved to mainstream writing in the Australian fiction market, and five books after that she began writing for Avon as Sara Bennett.
In July 2006 she released her first novel in the Immortal Warrior series Return of The Highlander under the name Sara Mackenzie with AVON. Today she is focused on her upcoming Dark Gothic Fantasy series The Dark Lords. She describes her books as more than ghost stories, they are dark in mood with folklore used from different regions in England and Scotland to create her tales of modern heroines and heroes from the past.
